Next steps...
There are two sets of “next steps” I want to cover today.
The first is the “next step” related to the recent unpause of the Red Hill drone spray. A good number of people showed up at the BOCC town hall in Lyons last Thursday and I was so grateful for a packed room of articulate citizens and many of our pro se plaintiffs as well. Commissioner Loachamin is seen as the swing vote so we need to continue educating and pressuring her to do the right thing and ban aerial spray entirely. In true politician form, Commissioner Loachamin refused to answer some pointed questions and said the right thing at times but her actions to vote with Commissioner Levy on Wednesday do not reflect the appalled sentiment she expressed about the 2022 Lyons helicopter spray. Emails, phone calls, and trying to get a personal meeting are all good but the monthly public comment time is next Thursday, February 5th at 9am in the third floor meeting room of the Pearl Street Courthouse. If you want to speak, sign up ASAP because there will be limited slots available in that one hour. In person sign ups are here, remote sign ups are here. You are always welcome to be in the room and not speak…a packed room shows support for our cause, just know you cannot clap, cheer, or have any other show of emotion in the hearing room. Clapping was “allowed” at the town hall but they will shutdown the public comment if there are outbursts so come resolved but stoic. ;)
The second “next step” is for the pro se lawsuit we have against BOCC and BCPOS. We are very close to officially retaining a lawyer to represent us as we move toward a settlement with our case so we are very happy. I will give more information when everything is finalized but this is something to celebrate!
I hope to see many of you next Thursday at the public comment time.
