Drone watch
All hands on deck!
I owe a few updates and have no excuse except that I’m very busy and my computer has also been having issues but today I had to stop to post something very important: BCPOS posted a window of time on their website during which they plan to perform the first aerial drone spray of pesticides. Starting today through December 31st, the drone application of Rejuvra+ and Plateau could happen anytime conditions are right…like the calm day we had TODAY. As far as I know, no more specific communication will be given for when the spray will actually happen beyond the aforementioned date range.
The location, Red Hill, is even more concerning:
Elk Run Farm is in this area and Yellow Barn Farm is just south of the highlighted green spray zone. While the County uses buffers at the edges of the spray zone to prevent overspray, 700ft is insufficient and doesn’t take other contamination potential into account. BCPOS claims these drone pesticide applications are needed to control cheatgrass for “fire mitigation” but spraying petrochemicals kills plants and microbes, dries out the soil, and leads to further problems — like fire!
Please, email the Boulder County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) at commissioners@bouldercounty.gov or call 303-441-3500 to express your concern for this impending drone spray AND sign up to testify either in person or online during BOCC’s monthly public comment time this Thursday morning, December 4th at 9am on the third floor of the Pearl Street Courthouse. BOCC needs to know people are still concerned about this so PLEASE share widely and show up however you can.
Tomorrow is Giving Tuesday. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to the “BOCO Out of the Weeds” initiative at SOSVV. We’re still trying to raise enough money to retain a lawyer for the next phase of our lawsuit and every dollar helps.

WE NEED YOUR VOICES, and to RAISE another $1,185 TODAY....to retain a LAWYER to fight this poisoning of regenerative agriculture properties in Boulder and more. READ HERE.

Advocate Against Herbicide Spraying on Red Hill
Thank you for your time and attention.
The $2k goal will be used to pay a legal retainer and will enable John Terry, a lawyer familiar with the process, to write Boulder County on behalf of BoCO Regenerative Land Movement, imploring the County to stop the spray of Indaziflam (a Bayer/Monsanto product) in the Red Hill area just west and upslope from the Yellow Barn and Elk Run regenerative farming demonstration sites.
Any additional funds raised will be used to fuel on-the-ground organizing efforts by Yellow Barn and Drylands Agroecology Research.
This is just the beginning.
Summary of the issue: Indiziflam sterilizes soil for years. It kills ALL seeds before germination, not just the “bad ones.” Emerging research suggests it may remain active for 5+ years, possibly a decade. It leaves behind “moonscapes” of bare ground where re-seeding efforts have failed. The targeted areas are post-fire landscapes, places where natural regeneration depends on seeds sprouting.
Indaziflam is manufactured by Bayer, the company that acquired Monsanto. Bayer paid for a family member of a County official to receive a graduate degree from CSU, who then conducted field trials in Boulder County. The same researcher now works for Bayer/Envu in Government Relations. Unfortunately, this has proven an effective strategy to persuade state and local land managers to make Boulder County "ground zero" for this product.
